SUBMERGED HAZARDS
The Port District recently contracted with the firm Woolpert to perform bathymetric mapping services of the harbor to assist in identifying submerged debris and other underwater hazards. While no known hazards currently exist in the main channel, and both the north and south harbor channels are open for suitable vessel traffic, several submerged hazards exist in the fairways. To view a map of all identified submerged hazards, please click here. The Port District and its marine salvage contractor are working to remove the submerged hazards as quickly as possible.
ENTRANCE CHANNEL
Controlling depth in the harbor entrance is 10’ at MLLW. An updated sounding has been posted to the Port District’s website. The dredge crew recently repaired an issue with the jet pump onboard Twin Lakes, and dredging resumed on January 7, 2025.
As always, it is incumbent upon vessel skippers to be aware of and assess depths in the entrance channel prior to transit. Skippers with deeper draft vessels need to be especially vigilant. Prior to transit, check tide and weather conditions, view the entrance sounding, and know what your vessel draws.
DOCK ACCESS
All docks are open and accessible, with the exception of G-1 (south end). Power and water have been restored to all docks, with the exception of F-Dock and X-Dock. Please use caution dockside.
F-DOCK TRANSFORMER & WATER SERVICE
As a result of water inundation, the electrical transformer at F-Dock sustained significant damage. A portable generator has been installed as a temporary measure and operates daily from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM. A new, temporary transformer is enroute and is anticipated to be installed during the week of January 13, 2025. The watermain serving F-Dock, which also sustained significant damage and requires extensive landside repair and excavation, is also scheduled for repair during the week of January 13, 2025.
