2019-20 DREDGE OPERATIONS

North Harbor Dredging:
Crews have finished dredging the first quadrant in the northern portion of the X/J channel (near the culverts). Squirt will remain stationed in the X/J channel, as the crew works to address shoaling along the southern portion.

Please read all gate notices and beware of submerged pipe and equipment hazards when operating in the area. Harbor staff will be in contact with boat owners who may be in an area slated for dredging.

Federal Entrance Channel:
Entrance channel dredging commenced on November 4, 2019. To begin the season, the dredge crew will work an extended schedule of 10 hour days Monday - Friday, through November 15, 2019.

Entrance soundings will be updated bi-weekly and posted on the District's website. During dredging operations, pass Twin Lakes on the east side (Crow's Nest side) of the channel unless otherwise marked. Stay at least 50' from the dredge. Contact the crew for passing instructions on VHF channel 8.
Harbor Patrol Marine Search & Rescue
On September 29, 2019, Harbor Patrol responded to a report of approximately ten surfers in distress off of 36th Avenue. Once on scene, Central Fire rescue swimmers assisted ten victims onto the Almar patrol boat. The victims were transported back to the harbor launch ramp and evaluated by paramedics. All were released without injuries.
Attention Boaters: Shoreline Closure
California State Parks would like to remind all boaters of regulations governing shoreline closures along the Santa Cruz County coastline, as well as the area surrounding the Seacliff State Beach pier and cement ship.

All vessels are required to stay 1,000 feet offshore from any state beach within Santa Cruz County. In addition to the shoreline closure, vessels are not permitted within a 200 foot radius of the Seacliff State Beach pier or cement ship.

Please be mindful of these regulations when transiting the coastline. For more information, please contact State Parks Lifeguard Headquarters at (831) 427-4868.
