Transparency Certificate of Excellence
The Santa Cruz Port District recently renewed its District Transparency Certificate of Excellence from the Special District Leadership Foundation (SDLF).

This certificate is given in recognition of the District's ongoing efforts to promote transparency and good governance. To receive the award, the District completed essential governance transparency requirements, including meeting legal requirements for conducting ethics training, properly conducting open and public meetings, and filing financial transactions and compensation reports to the State Controller in a timely manner.

It remains a goal of the Port District to provide accurate and timely information through a variety of means to the public. This certificate affirms those efforts.
Entrance Channel Safety
Staff would like to remind all boaters that the posted speed limit within the harbor channel is 5 MPH. Please observe the 5 MPH limit, reduce wake when transiting the channel, and be courteous of fellow mariners.

During dredge operations, mariners should be aware of the cross channel dredge pipe and contact the dredge crew on VHF channel 8 to receive passing instructions to reduce the potential for a collision with dredge equipment.

Please read the important safety reminders below.

  • The 5 mile per hour zone is defined as the area beginning immediately at the harbor entrance and continuing up the entire length of the channel and throughout the harbor.

  • Vessel speed shall be further reduced if necessary so that at no time shall any vessel cause a significant wake.

  • Always contact the dredge crew on VHF channel 8 for passing instructions.

  • Stay at least 50′ from the dredge.
