Dungeness Crab Season Delays

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) is continuing the temporary recreational Dungeness crab trap restrictions due to presence of humpback whales and the potential for entanglement from trap gear.

Recreational take of Dungeness crab is permitted only by means other than conventional traps, such as hoop nets and snares.

The start of the commercial Dungeness crab season remains delayed until further notice.

For crab season updates please visit the CDFW newsroom.
