Each year, the Santa Cruz County Assessor's office charges possessory interest tax to vessels berthed in and to rental properties within the Santa Cruz Harbor. The possessory interests are assessments made for the private use of otherwise nontaxable publicly owned property, including boat slips.
Please direct any questions concerning your possessory interest assessment to the County Assessor's office at (831) 454-2002.
2019 PARKING STICKERS
Enforcement of 2019 parking permits will begin February 1, 2019. Please ensure that your 2019 parking stickers are displayed correctly to avoid being issued a citation. Don't forget to take advantage of the one hangtag placard that is included with your stickers! You may utilize this optional hangtag to make one parking sticker transferable between vehicles.
2019 WAITING LIST RENEWALS
It's not too late to pay your 2019 waiting list renewal! To avoid late fees and interest, payments must be received by February 20, 2019.
If you have any questions regarding your placement on the waiting list, please contact the harbor office at (831) 475-6161.

Maintenance crews continue to fabricate and install new dock gates throughout the harbor. The new dock gates are essential for the upcoming transition to an electronic key system, which will allow users to gain entry to docks, restrooms, and shower facilities using a secure electronic key fob.
Implementation of the new electronic key system is anticipated in Spring 2019. The Port Commission's Policy-Operations Committee has scheduled a special public session on Friday, February 15, 2019, to discuss and develop recommendations for a policy, which will outline user access rights, associated costs for keys, and any other guidelines for the new electronic key system.

SHALLOW ENTRANCE CONDITIONS
|
The dredge crew is working the dredge south along the western side of the navigation channel to punch through the shallow sandbar. Once a navigable passageway is restored on the western side of the channel, the crew plans to address the eastern side.
Conditions remain shallow and hazardous, especially during low tides. Boaters are urged to be vigilant about checking soundings, tides, swell and weather conditions before attempting to transit the entrance. Please contact Harbor Patrol on VHF Channel 9 or call the harbor office at (831) 475-6161 for the latest entrance conditions. Updated soundings are available on the Port District's
website.
For passing instructions during dredge operations, contact the dredge crew on VHF Channel 8.
